The Self-Directed Search, or SDS, was designed by the award-winning psychologist Dr. John Holland and is the most widely used career assessment test in the world. Experts have identified the SDS test to be well-suited for students seeking careers in the field of Criminal Justice.

Once you have taken the assessment test, you will be assigned appropriate personality characteristics; the six personality types identified by the test (Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional) directly correlate to various criminal justice careers in the Career Rolodex section of the CD-ROM. Follow the directions below to take the test, and then return to the CD-ROM to continue your exploration.
  1. Click the link below to reach the SDS (Self Directed Search) web site.
  2. Remember your 3 letter Code and return to the Career Rolodex on the CD-ROM to find out what careers are best suited to your interests.
If you experience technical problems, PAR Technical Support Specialists can be reached via e-mail using a special Internet form.
